The Crumbly Side of Humble

(A Book Review)

The last time I remember a story relating cookies with humility was of the young child who stuck his hand in the cookie jar and was caught because he could not take it out without letting go of the cookies. The Great Cookie Humble goes to careful, creative lengths to be anything but this cliche.

The author, the mysterious Aunt Mugg, is not only an acclaimed cookie baker (or so the story goes), but she is a great story baker also.  The Great Cookie Humble is full of lovable characters, superbly illustrated, and contains some added gems.  This sparkle of light comes from a Scriptural base.  In fact, those portions of the story that derive directly from sound, sage Scriptural principles are each cited and then referenced, in their entirety, in the back.

What a wonderful way to teach the principle of humility to children.  I applaud Aunt Mugg and look forward to more books of this quality and craftmanship.
